What is Bergamot Essential Oil?  

Bergamot essential oil is the oil that is cold pressed from the bergamot fruit. The bergamot fruit is a citrus fruit the same size as an orange but the colour of a lemon and the essential oil is extracted by pressing the peel of the bergamot fruit. 

The essential oil is a clear, light oil with a yellow/green colour with a brilliant citrus scent. It takes about 200kg of bergamot fruit to produce just 1kg of essential oil.

Blending Suggestions

Bergamot essential oil has a sweet, citrus aroma with floral undertones. It is a top note and blend well with other essential oils like lavender, clary sage, cypress, black pepper and rosemary.

Here are some of our favourite blends using bergamot essential oil:

4 drops of patchouli oil

9 drops of lavender oil

11 drops of bergamot oil

 

7 drops of pine oil

2 drops of black pepper oil

3 drops of clary sage oil

12 drops of bergamot oil

 

9 drops of peppermint oil

5 drops of may chang oil

10 drops of lemon oil

5 drops of bergamot oil

How to Store Bergamot Essential Oil

Make sure to keep your bergamot essential oil sealed and out of direct sunlight. This will stop oils from degrading over time and help prolong the quality. Make sure you keep the oil out of the reach of children.

Safety Precautions

Bergamot essential oil is for external use only. Make sure to keep out of reach of children as this is not a food grade product. Avoid contact with the skin directly as this essential oil is 100% pure and very concentrated.

Like all essential oils, we suggest doing a small patch test with the oil. This is to check for skin irritation for sensitive skin and to avoid an allergic skin reaction. Bergamot essential oil needs to be blended with a carrier oil before applying to the skin.
